The technical implementation of polymerization processes requires informations on relevant process
parameters as well as on the mass and heat balance of the process. We determine calorimetric and
kinetic process data and carry out polymer syntheses in a miniplant scale for studies on and
development of synthesis processes.
Calorimetric Measurements with the Reaction Calorimeter RC1 (Mettler-Toledo)
With the computer controlled reaction calorimeter RC1 it becomes possible to conduct processes or single process steps close to reality in the lab scale, thereby controlling, measuring and recording all relevant parameters and calculating the procedural and safety-related data by means of heat balancing. By means of combination with auxiliary online analytics one may measure the chemical conversion (ReactIR FTIR reaction analysis system for in situ measurements under process conditions) and - for heterophase systems - the development of particle size (Lasentec® FBRM® - online particle size analyzer) in addition to the thermal conversion of the reaction. This allows the comprehensive investigation of even very complex systems.
